The $50,000 heavy loads bond is the guarantee Brazoria County holds against road and bridge damage before an overweight or oversize move runs on county roads. You pay a premium on the bond instead of tying up $50,000 in cash with the county.
Brazoria County requires a $50,000 surety bond from haulers who obtain a county permit to move heavy loads over county roads and bridges, where the county assigns that amount. Texas Transportation Code 623.018 lets the commissioners court require a bond large enough to guarantee payment of any damage to a road or bridge. Brazoria County is the obligee.
