The $100,000 heavy loads bond is what Brazoria County holds against road and bridge damage before it lets an overweight or oversize move run on county roads. Paying a premium on the bond keeps your cash free for the job instead of posting $100,000 with the county.
Brazoria County requires a $100,000 surety bond from haulers who obtain a county permit to move heavy loads over county roads and bridges. Texas Transportation Code 623.018 lets the commissioners court require a bond large enough to guarantee payment of any damage to a road or bridge. Brazoria County is the obligee, and the county sets which bond amount applies to a given permit.

Texas lets a county, acting through its commissioners court and county judge, issue permits to move overweight, oversize or overlength loads that cannot reasonably be dismantled over county roads. A county permit under that section may not be issued for longer than 90 days.

A Section 623.011 permit from the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles carries its own $15,000 bond under Section 623.012, payable to the counties of Texas.
