This bond is for the business selling hunting and fishing licenses, not the hunter or angler buying one. Bait shops, marinas and sporting goods stores in Palm Beach County that want to issue licenses as a subagent post it so the state knows license revenue collected at the counter will be reported and paid in full.
Florida lets the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission appoint subagents to sell hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and permits. Under Fla. Stat. 379.3511(1)(a), the commission may require each subagent to post an appropriate bond as determined by the commission, or accept a blanket bond or other security instead. The bond amount is set by the commission rather than by statute, so confirm the figure and form before the bond is issued.

The bond applies to license sellers. Fla. Stat. 379.352(4) allows the commission, county tax collectors and subagents authorized under section 379.3511 to sell hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and permits. A store or marina in Palm Beach County that wants to sell those licenses applies as a subagent. Section 379.3511(1)(a) lets the commission require each subagent to post an appropriate bond as determined by the commission. The commission may instead buy blanket bonds or accept other security.
Subagents collect state money at the counter. Section 379.3511(1)(e) requires them to submit payment for, and report, license and permit sales to the commission as the commission prescribes. If a subagent fails to remit what it collected, the bond pays the shortfall up to its limit. In the county itself, section 379.352(6)(b) requires tax collectors to remit license and permit revenue to the commission weekly.
Section 379.352(5) adds a $1.50 issuance charge to each license or management area permit, other than replacements and the shoreline fishing license. A tax collector may retain 50 cents for each license or management area permit sold by subagents in its county under section 379.352(6)(a)4.
The statute leaves the amount to the commission. Confirm the required amount, obligee wording and filing steps with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or the Palm Beach County Tax Collector before the bond is issued. Premium is set by the surety after a review of the owner's credit and the bond amount.
No. The bond is for businesses appointed as subagents to sell hunting, fishing and trapping licenses under Fla. Stat. 379.3511.
The statute leaves the amount to the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, which may require an appropriate bond for each subagent. Confirm the figure with the commission before ordering.
Yes, at the commission's option. Section 379.3511(1)(a) allows the commission to purchase blanket bonds or accept other security instead.
