Brief Summary
Georgia DDS wants a $10,000 surety bond for each ignition interlock service center, not one bond for the whole company. Open three locations and you file three bonds. Get each one in place with the rest of the certification packet and the application moves without a resubmission.
The Georgia Department of Driver Services requires every certified Ignition Interlock Provider Center to post a $10,000 surety bond for each location, naming DDS as obligee. New centers also need a Georgia general liability policy of at least $50,000 and pay a $280 nonrefundable application and stamp fee. Certification runs up to four years under Georgia rule chapter 375-3-6.

Detailed Information About the Georgia Ignition Interlock Provider Center ($10,000) Bond:
One bond per location
The DDS requirement is a $10,000 surety bond for each provider center location, with the Georgia Department of Driver Services as obligee. A manufacturer or service network adding sites in Georgia needs a separate bond for every center it opens.
The rest of the new center packet
The bond is filed with a Georgia general liability policy of at least $50,000, a Fire Code Inspection Report no more than 90 days old, an unexpired business license, the certificate of incorporation or DBA trade name form, the manufacturer agreement, and the pre-numbered forms used with customers. Every owner, partner, corporate officer and controlling stockholder must complete GAPS fingerprinting and supply certified motor vehicle records from each state other than Georgia where they held a license in the past five years. The new center fee is $280, nonrefundable. Applications are submitted online.
Recertification
Certification is valid for up to four years. Apply for recertification 60 to 90 days before it expires. For the bond, DDS accepts a continuation or verification certificate on the existing bond rather than a new bond. The recertification fee is $100, and the manufacturer agreement must have been signed by both parties within one year of applying.
What the bond guarantees
The bond backs the center's compliance with the DDS Ignition Interlock Provider Rules. If a valid claim is paid, the provider must repay the surety.
