Check the bond amount before you order it. Orange County ties waste tire bonds to the type of license you hold, and the county's 2014 ordinance amendment proposed $10,000 for collectors and $25,000 for storage sites. If the Solid Waste Division confirms $1,000 for your permit, this bond is quick to issue and keeps your tire hauling or storage operation legal in the county.
Orange County, Florida regulates waste tire hauling and storage under Chapter 32 of the Orange County Code. Anyone transporting more than 25 tires needs a one-time variance or a county waste tire transporter license, and licensed operators post a performance bond in favor of Orange County. The bond guarantees the permit holder handles, stores and disposes of waste tires as the county code requires.

The county's waste tire rules sit in Chapter 32, Article VI of the Orange County Code. The 2014 amendment presented to the Board of County Commissioners set up separate collector and storage licenses, each with a $25 application fee and a $25 renewal fee.
The 2014 ordinance amendment required each licensed collector to maintain a $10,000 performance bond and each storage license holder to maintain a $25,000 performance bond, with a letter of credit from a bank in Orange, Osceola or Seminole County allowed instead. Those figures differ from the $1,000 amount on this listing. Ask the Orange County Solid Waste Division which amount applies to your permit before the bond is issued, and order the bond in that amount.
The bond protects Orange County if the license holder fails to meet the county's waste tire rules, such as proper storage, manifest records and lawful disposal. If the county has to step in, it can claim against the bond, and the license holder must repay the surety.
Under the 2014 amendment, sites storing more than 1,500 tires or processing any amount need a waste tire processing facility permit under the county's solid waste management rules, which is a different filing from a collector or storage license.
Orange County requires a one-time variance or a waste tire transporter license for anyone transporting more than 25 tires. Call the Solid Waste Hotline at (407) 836-6601 to confirm which applies.
Confirm it with the county. The 2014 ordinance amendment proposed a $10,000 bond for collectors and a $25,000 bond for storage license holders, so the amount depends on the license you hold.
The 2014 amendment allowed a letter of credit from a bank in Orange, Osceola or Seminole County in place of the bond. A surety bond avoids tying up your bank credit line.
The surety prices the bond from the bond amount and the owner's credit and business history.
