This bond is for the business selling hunting and fishing licenses in Glades County, not for the hunter or angler buying one. It lets a bait shop, marina, outfitter or store take license and permit money on behalf of the state and prove that the money will be paid over. You pay a premium instead of tying up cash as security, and once the bond is on file you can start writing licenses.
Florida lets the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission appoint subagents to sell hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and permits, and Section 379.3511, Florida Statutes, allows the commission to require each subagent to post a bond in an amount it sets. In Glades County the bond guarantees that a subagent reports its sales and remits the license and permit fees it collects.

A person buying a fishing license does not post a bond. This bond is for the seller. Under Section 379.3511, Florida Statutes, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission may appoint subagents to sell hunting, fishing and trapping licenses and permits. Subagents serve at the commission's discretion, and the commission decides which licenses they may sell and where they may sell them. Handling licenses or permits for a fee without an appointment is unlawful.
A subagent collects state money every time it writes a license. Section 379.3511 requires subagents to pay for and report their license and permit sales to the commission in the manner it prescribes, and allows the commission to require each subagent to post a bond. The commission sets the bond amount and approves the insurer. It may also use blanket bonds covering some or all subagents, or accept other security it specifies. If a subagent keeps money it owes or fails to account for license stock, the bond covers the loss up to its amount.
County tax collectors sell licenses and permits under Section 379.352, Florida Statutes, and remit that revenue to the commission weekly. For licenses and management area permits sold by subagents, the tax collector may retain 50 cents for each license sold in the tax collector's county. A Glades County subagent therefore works alongside the county tax collector's office as well as the commission.
A subagent may keep 50 cents per license or permit sold in addition to the required fee. The bond premium is a business cost to weigh against that volume.
Confirm the required amount, the named obligee and the current bond form with the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission or the Glades County Tax Collector before the bond is issued. Premium is set by the surety after reviewing the bond amount and the owner's credit and business history.
No. This bond is posted by a business appointed to sell licenses and permits. Individuals buying a license do not post it.

The commission can make a claim on the bond to recover the unpaid amount. The surety pays the valid claim and then seeks repayment from the subagent.
