Getting this bond back is the part contractors miss. Aventura releases the bond only after you restore everything you disturbed in the right of way, irrigation and lighting included. Posting a surety bond keeps your cash free while the permit is open, and the bond details go straight onto the city's Public Works Permit Application.
The City of Aventura asks for a bond on its Public Works Permit Application for work in city rights of way. The application has fields for the bonding company and the bond amount, and states that before the bond is released the applicant must restore all disturbed areas, including irrigation, lighting, ground topology and utility paint markings, at its own expense. The city fills in the amount when it reviews the permit, so confirm the figure with Aventura Public Works before the bond is issued.

The city's Public Works Permit Application says that prior to release of the bond, the applicant shall restore all areas disturbed, including but not limited to irrigation, lighting, ground topology and utility paint markings, at the applicant's expense. Plan restoration into the job from day one. Until it is done and accepted, the bond stays in place.
The application leaves the bond amount blank alongside the engineering and plan review fee, the Aventura permit fee and other fees. Public Works sets these when it reviews the scope of the work. Get the figure from the city before you apply for the bond so the amount on the bond matches the permit.
The application also tells applicants that Public Works must be notified 48 hours before construction starts, that proper maintenance of traffic must be kept up, and that abandoned MOT is subject to removal and storage fees. Inspections are billed at $112.50 per hour during normal working hours. The permit is not valid until an authorized City of Aventura representative signs it.
The bond backs the permit holder's promise to do the right of way work as permitted and to put the area back. If the contractor walks away or leaves damage unrepaired, the city can claim on the bond to pay for the repairs, and the contractor must repay the surety.
Restore every area you disturbed, including irrigation, lighting, ground topology and utility paint markings, at your own expense. The city's application makes that a condition of bond release.
Aventura sets the amount during permit review and writes it on the Public Works Permit Application. Confirm it with Public Works before you apply.
