South Adams County Water & Sanitation District issues its own contractor license, separate from any city or county license you already hold. According to the District's Contractor License Information page, every applicant must provide a $5,000 License and Permit Bond naming South Adams County Water and Sanitation District as the obligee, a certificate of insurance showing at least $500,000 combined single limit for liability and property damage that includes contractor equipment coverage, and a certificate of workers' compensation insurance. The license fee is $50 and must be paid before work starts.
The license is annual, and the District states it must be renewed every year. Plan for the bond to stay in force for as long as you hold the license, and renew it on the same cycle.
The bond protects the District if a licensed contractor fails to follow the District's rules. All work by licensed contractors must meet the District's current Rules and Regulations and its Design and Construction Standards. The District also bars installations from Friday at 4 p.m. until Monday at 8 a.m. without advance approval, and does not allow anyone it has not authorized to enter, operate, adjust, alter, move or relocate District facilities. A contractor who breaks those rules and leaves costs behind can face a claim against the bond, which the contractor must repay to the surety.
Applications are available in person at the Stevenson Administration Office, 6595 E. 70th Ave., Commerce City, CO 80022, or by calling 303-288-2646 to have one emailed. Confirm the District's current bond form and filing steps with the office before the bond is issued.
Yes. The District issues its own annual contractor license, and its application calls for its own $5,000 License and Permit Bond with the District named as obligee.
Every year. The District requires annual renewal of the contractor license and a $50 fee with each application, so keep the bond in force on the same schedule.
Not without advance approval. The District does not allow installations from Friday at 4 p.m. until Monday at 8 a.m. unless it has approved the work ahead of time.
The surety prices the bond from the $5,000 amount and a review of the business owners, mainly personal credit. You see the actual quote when you apply.
