Brief Summary
If you hold active Oklahoma contractor licenses in all three trades, the Construction Industries Board wants $5,000 of bond behind each one. This $15,000 bond covers mechanical, electrical and plumbing on a single CIB license bond form, so one instrument keeps all three licenses active.
The Oklahoma Construction Industries Board requires a $5,000 license bond for each active mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractor license under OAC 158:50-5-3, 158:40-5-5 and 158:30-5-2. The CIB license bond form sets the penal sum at $5,000 for each license type checked, so a contractor active in all three trades carries $15,000, payable to the State of Oklahoma ex rel. Construction Industries Board.

Detailed Information About the Oklahoma Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Contractor Combination ($15,000) Bond:
The $15,000 is three $5,000 bonds in one
In the CIB rules, each trade carries its own bond requirement. OAC 158:50-5-3 requires a $5,000 corporate surety bond payable to the Construction Industries Board before a mechanical contractor license is issued. OAC 158:40-5-5 requires each active electrical contractor to furnish a $5,000 license bond. OAC 158:30-5-2 requires each active plumbing contractor to maintain a $5,000 corporate surety bond payable to the Board. The CIB license bond form has boxes for mechanical, plumbing and electrical contractor and states a $5,000 penal sum for each type of license indicated. Check all three and the bond is $15,000. Drop a trade and the amount drops with it.
Insurance is a separate requirement
The bond does not satisfy the insurance rule. All three chapters require proof of general liability coverage of at least $50,000. The CIB mechanical page says the Board must be listed as certificate holder and receive notice of cancellation, and that letting insurance lapse makes the license inactive. Electrical contractors must also comply with the workers' compensation laws in Titles 85 and 85A.
Who does not post the bond
The rules waive the bond and insurance when the contractor is employed by a corporation, partnership, public entity or political subdivision that files an affidavit stating the employee works only on property it owns and that it assumes financial responsibility. The mechanical and plumbing rules also let a contractor choose inactive status, which removes the bond and insurance requirement but limits the licensee to journeyman work. The plumbing rule allows $5,000 cash or a certificate of deposit in place of a surety bond for that trade.
Bond terms
The obligee is the State of Oklahoma ex rel. Construction Industries Board. The bond stays in force until the surety cancels it with 30 days written notice to the Board, and the surety remains liable for violations that occurred before cancellation. Under the electrical and plumbing rules, licenses last no longer than one year and expire on the last day of the licensee's birth month.
